The brand new spring summer ’09 collections have hit the stores and to make life a bit easier for us, the folks at Matches Fashion have put together their lovely Spring Summer 2009 look book for us all!
Featuring some of the best and more fabulous designers of all times – such as our favourite enfant terrible Alexander McQueen who’s SS ’09 collection features some lovely investment dresses and very wearable pieces indeed, the sexy Brian Atwood with his equally sexy shoe collection, the everlasting Diane Von Furstenberg with a fabulously colourful DVF Collection, the eternally gifted Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga who creates one must-have after the other AND the new LANVIN collection by fashion genius Alber Elbaz.
Anyone who has seen any of Alber Elbaz’s SS ’09 Lanvin collection knows the pieces are absolutely to die for – gorgeous and lush colours, slim cropped trousers with elaborate blouses and the most eleganty draped fabrics creating the most fabulous evening dresses (this man sure knows how to drape fabric like none other!) – all those lovely things you never you waned but you now absolutely crave!
Just in case you had no idea AT ALL what SS ’09 has in store for you, have a look at these few examples just to get you started (while we work on bringing you more of our absolute favourite pieces over the coming days and weeks!):
Today I came across some fabulous dresses at YesStyle. Hong Kong based Asian fashion house ’59 Seconds’ seem to have found the absolutely perfect blend of modern cuts, minimalist design, feminine fabrics and bring us some strict tailor that somehow still manages to look very sexy, feminine and elegant with a touch of a stark minimalism!
Have a look at some of these pieces and you’ll know what I mean:
With the ruffled trim in the front and the dropped waist this piece remains very feminine whilst the sharp tailoring and full black give it that little extra edge!
This has got to be my personal favourite! This cape dress finds exactly the right balance between drama and reservation – the dramatic cape cut draws attention, but the subdued grey and lack of further extravaganza make this modern and stylish dress absolutely perfect for the street!
Talking about strict tailoring, straight lines, strong blacks, minimalism and structured cuts – this is about as good as it gets! This funnelneck 3/4-sleeved black dress is an absolute must-have!

We all know the goth glam, biker chic and the rock look have brought leather back into our wardrobes in a big way. Leather jackets are great – they keep warm, good against a cold wind, last long and tend to go with most everything be it a full rock look or a feminine dress. But what if you don’t really like the idesof wearing animal skin? Then we have some fantastic faux leather alternatives for you right here straight from fashion hotspots South Korea and Japan:

Anyone who’s seen out and about town anytime in the past weeks (we’re talking quite a number of weeks here) will have noticed my absolute love for simple, strict black dresses. I’ve collected quite a few of them now in different cuts, fabrics, patterns and materials – all black, all short(ish), all simple and straightforward. The no bullshit black dress as you could also call it so to speak🙂
So you can imagine how absolutely delighted I was when I came across this little beauty from our hot brand du jour – the one and only Kova&T! It’s the perfect length, long sleeves for the autumn/winter. It has great padded detail to the shoulders and the waistband for that strict structured look of the season and is fully lined. What more could you possibly want for a autumn/winter 0809 dress?!
Whats even cooler? You can now pre-order this must have Kova&T dress right here!

International fashion model Rebecca Victoria spent many years travelling the globe as a model – London, New York, Cape Town and Miami…you name it – she modelled there! This meant a lot of travelling, getting to know people and discovering loads of great new styles…
After all the years of globetrotting Rebecca mixed all those styles and fashions she’d seen everywhere else to create the very special Nakid Desin which started off in awesome New York City before coming home to Munich in Germany.
Rebecca and her mother Sisi work together to individually create every single design and piece with love and care – you just know none of these were mass produced – each piece is handmade out of the best possible materials you could find! And you can always always always be sure that absolutely no one else has the same piece ’cause every single piece is unique!
Nakid Desin (pronounced Naked Design) is all about individuality, style, colour and comfort. Dare to be stylish, dare to be colourful and spoil yourself with comfort – wear Nakid!
